Recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard and approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators, this course is a unique study program covering the fundamentals of boating. Lessons include: general information about boats and maintenance, information to make your boating experience safer and more comfortable, tips on being a more courteous boat operator, laws and regulations to which you must adhere, and required equipment you must have onboard. Individuals successfully completing the course qualify for the Pennsylvania Safe Boating Certificate. This certificate is recognized by New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland officials.
Boating Skills & Seamanship
Mondays 7PM-9PM, Cost: $65.00

Class Dates:

A comprehensive course designed for both the experienced and novice boater. Eight required lessons and five elective modules include: which boat is for you, equipment needed, trailering, boat handling, aids to navigation, navigation rules, piloting, power, lines and knots, weather, and inland boating. Individuals successfully completing the course qualify for the Pennsylvania Safe Boating Certificate.
How To Read A Nautical Chart
Thursdays 7PM-9PM, Cost: $40.00

This course is geared to provide the language of piloting and is a precursor to our Advanced Coastal Navigation Course. Here you will learn the basics of charts, Distance/Speed/Time calculations, Correct Piloting Procedures, the Tools of Piloting and much more. With this course, you will be ready to go on to Advanced Coastal Navigation classes with real confidence. This course includes charts.

Topics include: introduction to navigation, latitude and longitude, marine compass, various types of nautical charts, tools and instruments, how to plot your course and determine your boats position, correcting for current, predicting tides and currents, GPS and radar, reference publications, fuel and voyage planning, and plotting skills. GPS for Mariners
Sunday 8AM-Noon, Cost: $40.00

This course focuses on the GPS equipment typically owned by the recreational boater. Includes establishing waypoints, creating routes, interpreting display screens, menu functions, and selection of data fields. Those who already own a GPS will also learn how to use it to enhance their practical navigation and safe boating.
Sailing Skills & Seamanship
Thursdays, 7- 9:00 PM , Cost: $40.00

Designed for the person who wants to begin sailing in a small boat, learning each step the right way. This is not a boating safety course. Topics include: Beginning to Sail, Lets Go Sailing, Safe Sailing, and Advanced Topics.
